FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. HOW DO I START THE PROCESS FOR A CUSTOM DESIGNED PIECE?
The process begins with your "Request an Appointment" email. We'll schedule a 30 minute meeting to have an idea of your design ideas, your preferences and expectations for the piece of jewelry you want to commission.
To have a more comprehensive view of how the custom process develops, you can see more details on The Process page
2. WHAT TYPE OF MATERIALS DO YOU WORK WITH?
I work with precious metals, mainly with gold (18K, 14K, 10K in different colors),  with platinum and de-ox sterling silver. I also work with precious and semi-precious gemstones, like diamonds, sapphires or any other type of gemstone. I will also source pearls like South Sea, Tahitians or Akoya pearls.

3. CAN I USE MY OWN GEMSTONES OR MY HEIRLOOM PIECES OF JEWELRY FOR GEMSTONES AND METAL?
I'm always happy to use your own gemstones.  In order to do so, I will first need to inspect them under a microscope to see if they're damaged and if they can be used in a new piece of jewelry. Keep in mind that old heirloom jewelry has been loved and sometimes gemstones are chipped or broken as a result of wear.

I do not re-use the metal on your heirloom pieces. I can extract the gemstones but will give you back the metal where they were set. I will evaluate the possibility of removing the gemstones on a one-on-one basis.
4. HOW LONG DOES THE PROCESS TAKE?
Commissioned projects can take anywhere between 6-24 weeks to complete. This will vary depending on how fast you make decisions, the time of the year and spot on my waiting list but also on the complexity of the design and sourcing/availability of gemstones and materials for your project.

I will always aim to work towards a specific date but I do recommend that you start your project 6/8 months ahead of the date you want your piece completed. A 25% markup will be added to your quote if you wish to move up on the waiting list.
