The process

Custom work can come in the form of an Anniversary gift, an engagement ring, a birthday celebration, updating some of your family jewelry or just the wish to make something special for yourself.

Doing a bespoke piece is the most fun aspect of my business because I get to work on projects that are deeply personal and emotional for my clients. Usually what will happen is that you'll come to the studio with a gemstone, a piece of jewelry or an idea. I'll invite you to sit down and talk about your ideas, the purpose of the jewelry, your budget and personal, special details you may want to include in the piece. If you're not local, we can go back and forth with emails but I do prefer to make a Skype or FaceTime call with you, so that I can show you examples of gemstones, metals or other hypotheses for your project.

After I take note of all the information you just gave me, I'll come up with 3 to 5 different proposals in the following days. You will then have the option to choose one of them, fine tune them or merge some of the ideas. From the moment you select one option and I start the physical production of your piece, you will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the quote.

Custom pieces take 4 to 8 weeks to finish depending on how elaborate they are, how difficult it is to source the gemstones or how busy the ACFJ studio is. In any case you'll be informed of a precise deadline and of the progress of your piece. I strongly encourage my clients to start creating their bespoke piece of jewelry with enough time before the date they wish to have it completed, but I'm flexible enough to discuss options to speed up the process.

Once the piece is finished you'll be required to pay the remaining 50% on the moment the piece is delivered or before shipping. If you're a Virginia resident you will be required to pay Virginia sales tax. The end result of this process should be a bespoke jewelry piece that will be treasured for generations to come.
